El 5 de noviembre tuve la oportunidad de liderar el grupo de Abante en esta misión. La misma era realizar una feria de salud abierta para la comunidad, donde muchos centros de salud y estudiantes de distintas partes de Puerto Rico colaboraron voluntariamente junto al Centro de consejería familiar de la Iglesia de Dios, Raudal de Adoración en Vega Baja.
Recuerdo tener muchos nervios. Mi mayor temor era que la mayoría de las personas del grupo no dominaban el idioma español; así que fueron estratégicamente ubicados en lugares donde pudieran desenvolverse bien y realizaran un excelente trabajo. Y así fue…
Básicamente nuestro trabajo era ayudar a todos los doctores emfermer@s con niños que venían a hacerse pruebas de visión, en distintas áreas proveyendo información médica. También, mantener control en áreas donde se estuvieran realizando exámenes de audición y evaluación oral. Algunos estuvieron trabajando en el área de la cocina y también en la fotografía. Ese fue nuestro campo misionero.
Servir a otro parece ser simple pero, ¿Qué sorprendente es poder ver a Dios en medio de nuestro trabajo? Aunque no era un servicio cristiano no quería decir que no podíamos introducirles el evangelio a las personas. Recuerdo una conversación con una voluntaria que no tenía mucho conocimiento sobre la iglesia, y cómo poco a poco pude explicarle lo que hago, en lo que creemos como iglesia y ver la curiosidad de saber más. No hay mejor satisfacción que poder sembrar una pequeña semilla en la vida de otros. Y sé que fue de igual forma con mis otros compañeros.
A través de esta experiencia aprendí que el evangelio debe ser simple. Que con nuestros actos y conductas podemos reflejar a Cristo. Incluso un acto de amor hacia nuestro prójimo puede ser esa puerta abierta, en la que podremos entrar y llevar el evangelio de una mejor manera. En fin, esto son las oportunidades perfectas para poder evangelizar a otros. Me siento muy satisfecha por el trabajo realizado aquel día, agradecida con Dios, al staff encargado por la oportunidad que nos dieron para trabajar con ellos y a mis líderes por creer en mí en este trabajo. Fue todo un éxito para la gloria de Dios.

Basically our job was to help all the nurses and doctors with children who came to have their vision examination, in different areas providing medical information. Also, maintaining control in areas where audition exams and oral evaluations were being performed. Some were working in the kitchen area and also in photography. That was our mission field.
Serving another seems simple, but how amazing is it to be able to see God in the midst of our work? Although it was not a christian service, it did not mean that we could not introduce the gospel to people. I remember a conversation with a volunteer who did not have much knowledge about the church, and how little by little I could explain what I do, what we believe as a church and saw her curiosity to know more. There is no better satisfaction than being able to sow a small seed in the lives of others. And I know it was the same way with my other colleagues.
Through this experience I learned that the gospel should be simple. That with our actions and behaviors we can reflect Christ. Even an act of love for our neighbor can be that open door, in which we can enter and carry the gospel in a better way. In short, these are the perfect opportunities to be able to evangelize others. I am very satisfied with the work done that day, grateful to God, the staff in charge of it, for the opportunity they gave us to work with them and my leaders for believing in me in this work. It was a great success for the glory of God.
